Several months ago FF started acting up and crashing once or twice a day. It wasn't a real problem with session manager reloading my tabs (lost the built in tab saver ages ago). In the last few weeks it's been crashing way too often, I lost the ability to fullscreen any video content ('Firefox has stopped working - ok'), restoring from a crash took 3-5 minutes, and now I can't even restore because it can no longer handle too many tabs. I don't care if there are security issues, I just want to go back to something that functions.
(To the chrome proponents: the only real reason I don't use it is because I have a bad habit of leaving hundreds of tabs open, half of which I use, tell me how to deal with that and I'll join the dark side). Old versions of Firefox should not be used for multitudes of reasons, but here are a few:.

Old versions are vulnerable to all the security issues patched in more modern versions,. Old versions of Firefox (especially as far back as 3.6) have abysmal support for modern web technologies like HTML5, CSS3, etc. This forces web devs to keep supporting these out-dated technologies (remember the IE6 fiasco?).
Old versions of Firefox are horribly slow and not only suffer from poor resource utilization, but have other known issues that have been fixed in recent years (like data loss, crashes, etc.). OP specifically said he didn't care about security issues. That said, I take issue with your third point.
I'll grant you the current version of Firefox may run faster than the previous, but I would be very surprised if any performance improvements could be measured between 3.6 and current.
